Jim and Christa pulled all the stops for their Spring engagement session. From the vintage 1956 Crown Victoria “Glass Top” to the variety of gorgeous backdrops offered by “The Hermitage” historic grounds and home of president Andrew Jackson. When you see these two together, you can’t help but to smile. They’re like two teenagers falling in love for the first time. All we had to do was sit back and capture these two doing what they do naturally.
We felt it necessary to share some back story on these two love birds, so we asked Christa to send us a small blurb. Needless to say, she had a hard time summing it all up, so we decided to just let her tell her story. =)
Christa Says:
“Jim and I met in college and hung out with the same crowd but we never dated. After college we each went our own separate ways, he got married and I traveled a good bit with work and for fun.
Fast forward to late July 2011 when I (Christa) was buying chocolate at the store, and saw a truck full of firemen. I posted on Facebook “A truck load of firemen at Kroger. Jesus loves me!” That prompted Jim, a law enforcement officer, to comment “So, do firemen outrank police officers? And if so, why?”
That started a conversation that has yet to end.
We talked for hours on the phone amazed at all we had in common and of course never lacking for laughs! We chose to meet for the first time (since college) on September 1st, 2011. And we met up again for the next two weekends in a row. We had a feeling this was it.
We both love to travel and favorite places to visit was often a topic of conversation. Jim flew me down to Florida for what I thought would be our Valentine’s weekend in Tallahassee. Instead, he ‘kidnapped’ me and surprised me with a romantic getaway to Savannah, Georgia. My favorite city in America and the birthplace of my father. All Saturday I showed him around, taking in the sites of the city with all its many parks and historical buildings. We separated to get ready for a romantic dinner; me thinking he would pick me up at the door. Instead, a series of cards started me on a journey. The first one, left at my door, told me to meet the concierge at a specific time. The concierge gave me a 2nd card instructing me to follow him. He took me to the street where a horse and carriage picked me up giving me a bouquet of roses and a 3rd card that revealed my man was waiting for me in Forsyth Park. I instantly teared up. I KNEW what was coming. I arrived at Forsyth Park where Jim was waiting for me with tears in his own eyes. When I got there, he started retelling me the story of my own grandparents, how they met in this very city and courted in this very park. Where my Grandfather proposed to my Grandmother more than 65 years earlier. He got down on one knee, pulled out the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
Yes! Yes! Yes! After more tears and kissing we both returned to the carriage which took us to The Pink House to our own table for two, all alone in the wine cellar. It was THE MOST PERFECT DAY OF OUR LIVES.
We will become husband and wife on September 1st, 2012. One year to the day from our first date.
Ok and now we’re BOTH a hot mess from reliving our story. We’re like a couple of 18 year olds. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We can’t wait for their amazing wedding in September. Congratulations again Christa & Jim!
